Comments are open .fyi
They’re open. I’m listening. And no, I don’t want to be the only one talking, however loud or opinionated I might sound. This site will thrive on dialogue—not echo. You probably have a point of view. Share it, and ask your friends and colleagues too. Signup is free after all.
Some quick rules of the road (or gentle nudges from the House Tablet of 14):
- Participation matters. A blog without comments is just a monologue. And while I enjoy the sound of my own voice, I enjoy informed disagreement more.
- Facts aren’t opinions. Quoting a historical outcome isn’t a “hot take.” Opinions are beliefs about what something means, or what might happen next. Facts are the terrain. Your opinion is your compass.
- Good comments give back. Ask a question, but the best contributions also add something—context, experience, pushback, or a new lens.
- Short and sweet, or long and layered. If it’s punchy, go for brevity. If it’s complex, I’ll read every word. And if it’s really good, I might ask to feature it.
- Keep it sharp. Keep it civil. Sarcasm welcome. Cruelty isn’t. If you wouldn’t say it in person while looking someone in the eye, don’t say it here.
- Ron and Joseph are especially welcome too, if they can maintain a sense of humour and absorb few personal friendly barbs. After all, their flame war is what started me off doing .fyi, so it would be churlish not to be welcoming.

This isn’t X. It’s not Reddit. It’s not Facebook. It’s a thinking space. This is .fyi and you’re helping to get it started. It’s 36 hours old; breath it some oxygen.
Thanks in advance for you involvement and vague adherence to the rules, at least, most of the time. No flame wars, but the odd blow torch is fine—if you’ve a point.
